EVENT: Wine Tasting for Female Founders

Austin Venture Association cofounder and Executive Board Member, Ari Salafia, also the cofounder and CEO of TaxTaker, planned a private wine-tasting event at Next Coast Ventures on May 9th. This was via invitation only, specifically for women founders in Austin, and sponsored by BOXT, Austin’s direct-to-consumer, fine wine on tap startup. It was a collaboration with BEAM Angel Network, which invests in high potential and exceptionally led companies that happen to be founded by women.

Guided by a member of the BOXT team, this select group of eight entrepreneurs were taken on an eight wine-tasting flight, complete each with a tasty and complimentary personal-sized charcuterie box for each guest. Additionally, these founders also had the opportunity to meet each other, share their startup stories to the group, and support each other with advice, connections, words of encouragement, and more.

BOXT is also a female-founded and led, venture-backed Austin startup. They are reimagining the way we all enjoy a glass of fine wine at home by cutting out the middleman and delivering a hand-crafted, luxury wine experience direct-to-consumer. They were also recently named by The Austin Business Journal as one of the 21 Startups to Watch in 2021.

Next Coast Ventures generously hosted the event in their downtown office space. Founded in Austin in 2015, Next Coast provides early-stage capital to high-growth startups in ‘Next Coast’ markets, using macro trends and themes to guide their investment strategy. The fund provides hands-on, company building resources to its growing portfolio through its strong industry network, venture partner program and the founders’ own experiences as entrepreneurs.
